现货即期合同是指在现货交易中，买卖双方为达成现货即期交易而拟定的具体交易条款，这些条款经双方签字认可后即成为具有一定法律效力的文书文件。

在正常条件下，这种交易的交货时间最长为1个月。交易行为发生时，双方只能按照合同已经列明的内容各自履行自己的责任与义务，对违约方的处罚也按合同事先标明的方式进行。合同一旦经双方认可并签字后，就不能做单方面修改，也不可转让或中途停止。
