Gold started September on a cautious note, with XAU/USD trading around $4,440–$4,450 per ounce after coming under pressure from stronger rate-hike expectations and rising Treasury yields. Spot gold was recently around $4,428.54, down about 0.4% on the day.

📉 Why Is Gold Under Pressure?

The biggest factor remains Federal Reserve policy expectations. Recent hawkish comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh have increased expectations for a possible September rate hike. Higher interest-rate expectations generally weigh on gold because the metal does not generate interest income.

At the same time, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed to around 4.78%, while oil prices moved above $90, increasing concerns about inflation and keeping pressure on expectations for monetary policy.

📊 Today's Gold Price Action

XAU/USD has been trading in a relatively volatile range today, with an intraday range around $4,425–$4,461 according to live market data.

The key question for traders is whether gold can reclaim the $4,460–$4,500 area or whether sellers will push price back toward the $4,400 zone.

Key levels to watch:

🟢 Support: $4,425 → $4,400

🟢 Major Support: $4,350

🔴 Resistance: $4,460 → $4,500

🔴 Major Resistance: $4,600

A sustained move above $4,500 could improve the short-term bullish structure, while a decisive break below $4,400 could expose gold to deeper correction.

🧭 What Could Move Gold Next?

The market is now focused heavily on upcoming U.S. labour-market data, including JOLTS job openings, ADP employment data and Nonfarm Payrolls. These releases could influence expectations for the Fed's next policy decision and therefore create significant volatility in XAU/USD.

Short-term bias: Bearish to Neutral

Gold remains vulnerable while it stays below the $4,500–$4,600 resistance zone. However, the broader trend should not be considered completely bearish because gold is still significantly higher over the past month.

For traders, the preferred approach is to watch the $4,400 support and $4,500 resistance closely rather than chase moves in the middle of the range.

Above $4,500: bullish momentum may strengthen.

Below $4,400: downside risk increases.
